Past Campaigns

Over the years, we have joined and supported a range of campaigns calling for care, protection, and justice for the Earth. Within each, we worked to ground activism in the sacred and to nurture ceremonies that centre our action on connection.

The campaigns listed here represent our past cycles of ceremony and sacred action, where we have worked to weave the sacred into movements for change. Some remain ongoing in other forms.

Standing for Stonehenge

The “Standing for Stonehenge” campaign defended the sacred landscape around Stonehenge against a proposed tunnel/road scheme that threatened to desecrate ancestral ground, burial mounds and sacred site integrity.

We supported by holding ceremonies within the sacred landscape itself and in London, gathering prayers, and collaborating with allied groups to bolster the legal and spiritual resistance.

Visions of a World Beyond Fossil Fuels

This was a cycle of ceremony held during the Extinction Rebellion April 2022 rebellion in London, focused on water ceremonies and collective visioning for a world free from fossil fuels. SEA’s role was to weave sacred practice into direct action, using the power of ritual to hold the vision of a regenerative future. We supported it by coordinating a cycle of water-ceremonies, hosting sacred spaces in central London, and offering workshops aligned with climate justice activism.

Back to Source

The “Back to Source” campaign sought to reconnect communities with their rivers and sacred waterways, recognising water as a living, sacred being rather than a mere resource. SEA supported this by organising ceremonies and sacred actions around major river-days, inviting participants to honour water and the sacred through ritual, prayer, poetry and more. We supported the campaign through coordinated rituals, public education about water rights, and partnership with other water-justice groups.

Nature’s Rights

The “Nature’s Rights” campaign aims to shift UK law so that nature is recognised as a rights-bearing entity rather than merely property. SEA became involved due to our strongly held belief in the importance of honouring the sacred relationship between humanity and the more-than-human world. We supported the campaign by holding ceremony at their gatherings and meetings, amplifying the legal-paradigm shift, and partnering in advocacy around ecological jurisprudence.

COP26 - Order of the Oak

The “Order of the Oak” Acorns to Oaks brought together earth-centred spiritual groups to ceremonially plant acorns in a call for leadership and regenerative change ahead of COP26, held in Glasgow. SEA participated in coordinating this ritual cycle, hosting ceremonies in Glasgow and around the country, mobilising spiritual networks to ritually plant acorns, and co-signing open letters to political leaders about the climate crisis and ecological leadership.

The Order of the Oak now continues as a growing seed group for Druid eco-activism — click here to find out more

Right to Roam

The “Right to Roam” campaign seeks to extend public access to land in England so that people can reconnect and build relationships with wild places. SEA believes that our connection to the land and nature is paramount for healing the deep traumas of colonialism and separation; as long as we are divorced from the land and nature we are not only disconnected from our hearts, but also from our respect for life, be it of ourselves, other humans, other life forms, or the land herself. We have supported the campaign by joining advocacy efforts for land access, by accompanying events, supporting with ceremony, and by working to share and deepen public understanding of the movement’s vision.
