Visions of a World Beyond Fossil Fuels - Sacred Earth Activism water ceremonies to join XR’s April Rebellion

A key theme of Sacred Earth Activism’s supportive activities for XR’s April Rebellion in London will be using the power of water as a vessel to carry our Visions of a World Beyond Fossil Fuels.

One of our core aims is to hold sacred space within the Rebellion itself in order to provide a loving fulcrum to ground the wider action and act as a centre for prayer, visioning and ceremony. This ‘Well of Visions’ will be located at Diana’s Memorial Foundation in Hyde Park throughout the entire Rebellion from Saturday 9 to Sunday 17 April

It will also be a place for prayer, mindfulness and regenerative practice, a place for people to share their visions of a world beyond fossil fuels with the water, and a place of sanctuary for sacred activists to simply to come and be.

Here is an overview of some of the ceremonies we intend to hold and the important role that the sacred element of water plays within each of them:

Pre-Rebellion – New Moon Ceremony - Friday, 1 April

We are calling on sacred activists around the UK and rest of the world to hold water ceremonies at their local rivers, wells and seashore. At the end of the ceremony, we ask that each participant take some water away with them to act as a sacred vessel to hold their prayers for positive change to come out of the Rebellion and to connect with their visions of a world beyond fossil fuels.

Those who are traveling to London will be requested to bring this sacred water with them to London so they can participate in a ceremony we intend to hold in Hyde Park on Saturday 9 April (see below). Those who are unable to attend the London actions could place their sacred water on an altar, or other prominent place in the house, to act as a focus for prayer and visioning each day to provide energetic support for the Rebellion.

London Rebellion – Saturday 9 – Sunday 17 April

“Welcoming the Waters”

We will open sacred space at Diana's Memorial Fountain, Hyde Park, at 9am on 9 April, at the very start of the Rebellion. We ask that everyone arrive with flowers or fallen greenery to create an altar within the Fountain space. There will be a large cauldron in the centre where people can share the local water collected during their New Moon ceremonies as well as their prayers and visions of a world beyond fossil fuels.

Well of Visions

Sacred Earth Activism members will be in attendance at the ‘Well of Visions’ from 8:30am - 5:00pm each day, holding a sanctuary space for people to come and be, to share with the water their visions of a world beyond fossil fuels, and as a place for grounding, connection and rest.

Ebb and Flow

On Outreach Days, we invite pairs and groups of sacred activists will go and gather people's visions with traveling vox pops, inviting passersby of all walks of life to join us in discussing their visions for a future without fossil fuels.

On Action Days, we invite sacred activists to accompany marches and actions. They will carry glass spray bottles of blessed water to share and carry visions of a world beyond fossil fuels alongside activities as they take place.

Full Moon Ceremony – Saturday 16

The work of this Water Ceremony will culminate at the Full Moon in a ceremony on the shores of the Thames. We invite you to join us on the march to carry Waters through the streets on London, and to the shores of the Thames, asking that she carry these out to sea and far and wide around the world with all the prayers and visions that they carry.

The next morning, this sacred space will be closed in another ceremony, in which all natural items on the altar will be returned to the earth and everything else will be removed to leave the space completely clear and tidy.

Join us in Sacred Action
